Researchers mark CyberNI Week with visit from Feryal Clark MP

Researchers at the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) at Queen’s have come together to discuss new developments and mark CyberNI Week.

The researchers welcomed a visit from , Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for AI and Digital Government.

During the , researchers showcased the cutting-edge technologies within the the Cyber-AI Hub and highlighted their important work in tackling cybersecurity vulnerabilities of personal safety devices.

CSIT Director said: “CyberNI Week is a fantastic opportunity for us to reflect on the huge strides we have made in advancing research and industry collaboration in Northern Ireland. We are delighted to welcome Feryal Clark MP to CSIT, her presence highlights the importance of cybersecurity initiatives in our region.

“Cybersecurity is now an integral part of everyday life. Through cutting-edge research, our researchers at CSIT are helping to protect everyone in society from vulnerabilities. From companies protecting their customers, right through to helping prevent fraud and vulnerabilities in smart devices and personal safety devices. 

“Working closely with industry partners, we are shaping the future of cybersecurity, and I am confident that our collaboration will lead to even greater advancements in the field."

UK Government Minister for AI and Digital Government said: “Northern Ireland’s cyber sector is one of the most powerful tools in our arsenal as we continue to find new ways to keep the UK safe and secure online. That is down in no small part to the incredible wealth of expertise on offer across the country, and particularly here at the Centre for Secure Information Technologies.

“It has been a privilege to see first-hand how the work being driven forward here at CSIT is making our cyber defences stronger than ever before. Whether tackling fraudsters, helping companies to protect their customers, or ensuring the tech we rely on every day is safe and secure, it’s this vital research which has become synonymous with Northern Ireland which will keep us all safe and secure online both today and in the years to come.”
